Connected care for low-connectivity regions

How Inteople designed, built and operates Healodex — an offline-first telehealth and IoT diagnostics platform that brings clinical-grade assessment to communities far from specialists and reliable networks.

The problem

Care that can't reach the patient

Across much of the region, three barriers compound: too few specialists, long distances to clinics, and connectivity that drops exactly where care is needed most. Diagnostics meant manual readings and paper records, and any system that assumed a stable internet connection simply failed in the field.

  • Specialist shortage and travel distance delay diagnosis
  • Manual readings are error-prone and slow to reach a doctor
  • Cloud-only tools break on intermittent rural connectivity
  • Fragmented records make continuity of care difficult
Our solution

An offline-first care platform

Healodex connects affordable diagnostic devices to an offline-first platform: readings are captured locally, structured automatically, and reconciled to the cloud when a connection is available. AI surfaces priority signals for a remote doctor, who stays in control of every decision.

  • IoT devices capture vitals with no manual transcription
  • Local-first data layer keeps working through outages
  • AI triage prioritizes cases; doctors review remotely
  • One interoperable record across visits and sites

Implementation

How we built and rolled it out

PHASE 01 · Discovery

Field-first problem framing

We studied real care settings — connectivity, device constraints, clinician workflow — and set success metrics around reliability and time-to-assessment, not feature count.

PHASE 02 · Architecture

Offline-first by design

We chose a local-first data model with conflict-aware sync as the foundation, so the platform degrades gracefully instead of failing when the network drops.

PHASE 03 · Device + platform

Device-to-cloud integration

Firmware and edge processing feed structured readings into the platform with secure device identity; the doctor and patient apps were built in parallel on a shared codebase.

PHASE 04 · AI triage

Doctor-in-the-loop intelligence

We layered in models that surface and prioritize signals, deliberately scoped to assist — never replace — clinical judgment, with full audit trails.

PHASE 05 · Operate

Run, monitor, evolve

Healodex runs in production under our operation, with observability and SRE practices keeping it reliable as it scales across sites.

Impact

What it changed

By moving capture to connected devices and processing to the edge, Healodex removes the two biggest points of failure in remote care — manual transcription and connectivity dependence.

Readings reach a doctor in structured form, triage focuses clinician time on the cases that need it, and care continues through connectivity gaps. The result is a platform health systems can build on to extend their reach safely into underserved communities.

Metrics are illustrative of the platform's engineered targets; published clinical outcomes will replace them as they are validated.

We built Healodex offline-first because in the places that need it most, the network is the one thing you can't count on. Everything else follows from that decision.
